Drinks to die for in London’s iconic waterhole

This murderously good bar is located on a backstreet near Tottenham Court Road in Soho, London. The bar’s snug and friendly interior offsets any spookiness conjured up by its name. Neon red signs glow from the brick walls.

Brainstormed by the team behind the highly acclaimed Cocktail Trading Company, the site prioritises great drinks that are not over-complicated but have a spark of intrigue. It wants them to be inexpensive but not short-poured and boasts an “outrageously experienced” team.

It also boasts a bar that’s sexy in a way that can “only bespeak beauty and filth combining in harmony,” and promises “sick tunes and a pet pinata”.

Some notable mentions from the eclectic drinks menu include Pigeons Aren’t Real, which combines tequila, ruby grapefruit, bergamot, bitters and bubbles, as well as the Penicillin in which scotch, smoke, ginger, honey and lemon are mixed. Cocktails are all £11.

Italian, Chilean, Spanish and American wines also feature on the menu, as do CornHub Nachos, smoked almonds and giant Nocellara olives.

The menu offers advice of the week: “Drinking box wine in public is far more acceptable if you refer to it as cardbordaux.”

Murder Inc is East London bar the Cocktail Trading Company’s little sister. This Bethnal Green site offers a range of £11 cocktails and is also known for serving drinks a little on the wild side. It’s known for its retro party soundtrack, and a live pianist regularly plays RnB slow-jam remixes.

Murder Inc opened on Hanway Street in the summer of 2019.
