Not only wanting to develop a high-class operation together, the three friends also set out with the intention of giving back to the bar world too.
“Many delicious things for you,” says the bar’s website. “We put crazy amounts of work into the concepts, flavours and presentations of our menu drinks, but we shan’t weep endlessly should you just fancy a classic. Everything is the same price too – a tenner, whether it’s on or off the menu.”
The cocktail menu is stunningly designed with one drink per page and completed in an illustrated style.
Notable serves have included the Bonsai Butterfly with 58 House Gin, Pere Magloire Pommeau, coco-mint-cucumber puree and strawberry binary brew; One in A Million, with Gelemo-Ardbeg Whisky Blend, smoked watermelon syrup, spiced-up citrus and egg white; and the Addonis, with Lillet Rouge Aperitif, Le Verger Apple, rose port and sherry blend and oolong-hibiscus soda.
Other notable serves have included the Handy Nightcap with Evan Williams Bourbon, house sweet vermouth, Solo Club Brew Coffee and slated choco-chartreuse; the River Cottage Cosmo with 58 House Vodka, cranberry sherbet, melonaaade and soured raspberry syrup; and the Batanguita with Olmeca Altos Tequila, bittered vermouth and pomelo-cola reduction.
Inside the bar, it is smart and looks the part of a good-time venue with a great atmosphere and equally great rock and roll music.
It is decorated like an old British pub, with the central focus of the room being the bar which is filled with various nick-nacks and colourful bottles.
