Kwãnt, the cocktail bar with industry veteran Erik Lorincz at the helm, was one of the most anticipated reopenings of 2023.
Kwānt’s (pronounced ‘quaint’) new venue was opened in the summer of 2023, close to Green Park tube station on an upmarket corner of Mayfair, on the previous site of Café Nero.
The previous award-winning ‘five-star tropical bar’, was forced to close in 2021 after its sister restaurant and lease partner, Momo on the corner of Heddon Street, went into liquidation.
The new Kwānt is a relaxed bar with a focus on perfect service with sought-after cocktails. It takes its drinks offer seriously with creativity at its core - meaning the exquisite cocktails make Kwãnt the ultimate bar destination.
The cocktails were always set to be something special from the former head bartender at The Savoy’s American Bar. Those visiting could experience the Ryuku, made with rum, espresso, two types of sherry with awamori syrup, the Japanese spirit. Or there is the Wallet made with Woodford Reserve Bourbon, black miso, barley vermouth, chestnut and salted maple.
This bar continues to push the boundaries of creativity. One of its latest cocktail creations includes a slowly fermented Japanese Mugi tea first, mixed with Mr black Coffee liqueur, Johnnie Walker Black and charged with nitrogen.
A review by David Ellis at The Standard called the cocktails “utterly their own.” He added: “I can’t quite shake the feeling London hasn’t had a bar this radical in years.”
The Kwānt tasting menu offers seven courses for six customers with a chef and includes food from Beef Tartare, croustade, seaweed, chicory, followed by dishes such as scallops, cauliflower, curry.
The new venture is reportedly financially backed by a friend of Lorincz based in Slovakia.
